This children's book is a great introduction of space and what we have done to explore it. A star wheel is included for students to determine what stars on in the sky during the different seasons.

 

Our Stars by Anne Rockwell

This book discusses the tools used to explore space and explains the universe in simple and easy to read text. 

 

The Big Dipper by Franklyn Branley

This book focuses on one of the most recognizable constellations in the sky, the Big Dipper. The book explains basic facts and will help to excite students about constellations. 

 

The Sun is Always Shining Somewhere by Allan Fowler

This text explains that the sun is alwats shining somewhere at any given moment. The images accompany explanations with as a beginners guide to the sun and stars.
 

Where Does the Sun Go? by Gary Craig

This story is written in verse and the sun's journey across the sky. This book is a great introduction to stars and how the sun shines at all times. 

 

Is a Blue Whale the Biggest Thing There Is? by Robert Wells 

This book talks about scale and through silly explanations of how large or small something can be in comparison to another object. This puts space and stars into perspective through a comparison to a Blue Whale (the largest mammal on earth.)
